A Short Twitter Dictionary

Twitterers have an entire language that is unique (and sometimes quite humorous). If you’re going to make any sense out of all those tweets, you can keep a copy of this list handy. See if you can guess the next “tw…” terms before we define them:

Twactor: Someone impersonating another on Twitter.

Twadd: To add someone as a friend.

Twittcrastination: Twittering when you ought to be doing something else.

Twaggle: A gaggle of followers.

Twaiglist: To use your Twittering to sell something.

Tweeps/Tweeples: Your friends on Twitter.

Tweeter: A Twitterer/user.

Tweeterbox: A Twitterer/user who doesn’t know when to take a break.

Tweatheart: Your pals on Twitter.

Tweetin: A prearranged time among friends to join the conversation on Twitter.

Tweets: Your legacy of posts.

Twephard: Twitter tech who reconnects you to your followers when lost due to a technical issue.

Twhiner: Pretty much what you’d think. Twitterers aren’t big on tolerating lots of negative tweets.

Twittectomy: Same as Unfollow – to remove yourself from someone’s recipient list.

Twitterati: Join the club when your 30,000th follower comes on board!

Twitterific: Something Twitter-related that you really dig.

Twittering: To send a tweet.

Twitteritas: Ladies using Twitter.

Twitterject: To interject your tweet into an ongoing conversation on Twitter.

Twitterstream: Your own time line as well as the public time line.

Twittfessional: A confession made on Twitter. See “Mistweet” before you hit “send.”

Twittworking: Networking through Twitter.

Twoogle: Using your Twitter community as an instant search engine – post a request for information and watch instant results start hitting your time line.

Those should get you familiar enough to begin communicating in the twitterverse and you’ll pick up lots more lingo as you go.
